As expected, Aroldis Chapman got paid big time! He is getting $86M in his newest contract as he heads back to the New York Yankees, who traded him at the deadline to the World Champion Chicago Cubs earlier this year. Here’s the initial tweet:

Chapman back to Yankees. Once again, alongside Dellin Betances. He will be a good fit right back into the Yanks pen. They are a young team with many good veterans to lead the way for the youngsters. Those vets are notably Matt Holliday, Chapman, and Betances.
Good move by the Yanks. Expected move by most of the baseball world. As he said before, he was open to Yankees reunion early within the offseason and the club made it happen. Kenley Jansen remains as one of the FA closers, as he is in talks with Marlins and Dodgers per Joel Sherman.
Much more to come for Yanks in their future with all this young talent, and with Chapman’s talent, the Yankees could be back to contending very, very soon. Somewhat of a fast rebuild going down in the Bronx, and Chapman is a big get.
