The Houston Astros defeated the New York Yankees 3-0 in the opening game of the 2015 playoffs. Houston advances to the ALDS to face Royals while the Yankees season is over.

Pitching on three days rest Dallas Keuchel held the Bronx Bombers in check holding them to just three hits in his six innings of work. Dallas struck out seven walking one in the process.  All night long Keuchel was painting the inside and outised corners ,and looked unhittable in his time on the mound. After Dallas departed from the game the bullpen kept the Yankees in check en route to the victory.

Masahiro Tanaka was on the bump for the Yankees. Tanaka pitched good ,but not good enough to win. Tanaka got burned twice giving up solo homeruns to Colby Rasmus and Carlos Gomez each on the first pitch of the respective at bats. Masahiro ended up going five innings giving up two runs on four hits.  Tanaka fanned three two of which were in the first inning ,he also walked three batters.

From the get go the Yankees struggled offensively.  Only three batters got hits in the game.  Carlos Beltran, Greg Bird, and Didi Gregorious were the three. The entire night the Yankees players and coaching seemed dull.  Fans of the Bronx Bombers were electric most of the night and the Yanks were unable to answer the call ,and thus there season ends with a shutout in front of their home fans.

The Astros had energy all night long. It was clear that the Astros were going to try to attack early and often which they did.  They quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks in part to two solo homeruns by Rasmus and Gomez. In the 7th Jose Altuve put the icing on the cake pulling a single into left field scoring Villar making it a 3-0 game in favor of the Astros.

The Yankees were just unable to put anything together throughout the night and were left scratching their heads. Their season ends and the Houston Astros advance.
