Remember my last article? When I wrote about the Astros? Remember what I said about them and what I said was going on? Well if not, I’ll remind you. I said that something special was happening around Minute Maid Park and the Houston Astros.
The playoff atmosphere was alive two weeks ago, and now it’s thriving. That was more then evident tonight.

Mike Fiers has only been a member of the Astros for a little more than three weeks. Tonight, Fiers no hit the Los Angeles Dodgers in Houston. It was a brilliant performance by Fiers who posted a stat line of 9.0 IP, 10 Ks, 3 BBs on 134 pitches.

It certainly was special, as Houston won the game 3-0. Fiers had never taken a game into the ninth inning in his career.

This was the first complete game he has ever had, and it’s also a no hitter. This dominant performance will surely put the Astors into the playoffs, especially with how electric this pitching staff is. All star starter Dallas Kuechel, newly acquired Scott Kazmir, and now Mike Fiers can certainly lead this Houston team to some October baseball.

In the Dodgers defense, they didn’t have their best team on the field tonight. Yasiel Puig is day to day with a hamstring injury, and Howie Kendrick is on the 15 day disabled list. Those two guys are a big part to what the Dodgers do offensively.

With those two back, would it have been a different outcome? Maybe it would’ve, but both players aren’t having great years.

Either way, this shouldn’t take away from what a night it was and what a special pitching performance this was. Congratulations to Mike Fiers, the Houston Astros, and their fan base. Please follow me on Twitter @nathanpigg5Nathan Pigg
