The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals 8-7 to take a 2-0 series lead and gain a game up on the Nats.

Matt Harvey took the mound in his first start since the innings dilemma.  Matt was shaky in his start. Harvey threw 5.1 innings giving up eight hits and allowing 7 earned runs. However, four of the seven runs were off a ball misplayed by Yoenis Cespedes. At the end of the day Harvey did not have his best stuff.

Yoenis Cespedes misplayed a ball in center with the bases loaded that allowed the Nationals to score four in the sixth and make it a 7-1 deficit.

The Mets then followed putting up six in the top of seven.  David led off the top of the inning with a base hit. Conforto then got on base and Wilmer Flores hit a single scoring Wright pushing Conforto to third. Later on the bases were loaded for Granderson who walked scoring a run. Yoenis Cespedes then came to the plate with a chance for redemption. He redeemed himself hitting a double which scored three making it a 7-6 game. Lucas Duda than walked making it 7-7.

The Nats went blank and relied on Jonathan Papelbon to hold the game at 7-7. Folk hero Kirk Nieuwenhuis pinch hit for Addison Reed.  Kirk took Johnathan deep hitting a solo shot making it 8-7 Mets.

Jeryus Famila than finished the game off securing the Mets 8-7 win.
