The New York Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-2 in game one of the NLCS.
The Mets got things rolling when Daniel Murphy homered in the bottom of the first to score the first run of the game. The homerun Murph hit was his fourth of the postseason. Daniel now owns postseason homeruns against Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, and Jon Lester.
In the bottom half of the 6th Mets catcher Travis d’Arnaud hit a homerun to deep centerfield giving the Mets the lead.
Curtis Granderson hit a single to center scoring Juan Lagares making it 2-1 in the fifth.
The last Met run came when Juan Lagares scored on a sacrifice fly by Curtis Granderson.
Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey went 6.2 innings giving up two runs on three hits.
The Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester went 6.2 innings pitched surrendering eight hits and four earned runs.
The Cubs scored their first run of the game when Juan Lagares miss read a ball hit to him in center field. The ball dropped and the Cubs Anthony Rizzo scored.
Their second and last run of the game came on a towering shot by Cubs phenom Kyle Schwarber.
Jeurys Famillia came in the 8th for a four out save. Jeryus was solid and locked it down giving the Mets the victory.
Game two will be played tomorrow.
