Well they did it! The Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds 10-2 Saturday afternoon and clinched a playoff birth for the first time since 2006!

Matt Harvey had a stellar performance on the mound going 6.2 innings pitched giving up nine hits and two earned runs.  Mets fan everywhere were under the impression that Matt’s start Saturday would be an abriviated start.  Well it was not and Harvey did exactly what he had to do to help the Mets clinch their first playoff birth since 2006.

Lucas Duda hit a grand-slam in the 1st giving the Mets an ealry 4-0 lead. Curtis Granderson followed up the next inning with a solo shot making it 5-0. Michael Cuddyer hit a double in the gap scoring Murphy and Duda making it 7-2 in the middle innings. And last but not least David Wright put the icing on the cake hitting a three run homerun making it 10-2.

At the young age of 66 manager Terry Collins clinched his first postseason birth in his managing career. He finished in second place in each of his three seasons with the Astros, finished second two of his three years with the Angels, and in 2014 finished in second with the Mets. After years of work Collins made it to the big dance.

This is the triumphant return of David Wright to the playoffs. David has not been in the postseason since 2006. David missed over half the year with spinal stenosis in his lower back and it was uncertain at one point if he would ever play in 2015.  The Captian after years of waiting and waiting is finally back to where he started his career.

For everyone in the Mets orginization the time has come! The 2015 New York Mets have officially 100% clinched a spot in the postseason. A regular season filled with so many highs and so many lows ends in a triumphant high.  The Mets are the 2015 National Leauge East Champions.
