Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the league, super teams were forming, by twos and by threes. The shoes were laced up, the face masks on with care, in hopes that Saint Cousins, soon would be there.
In the Holiday spirit, let’s look at all of the gifts that Boogie Claus has given us and give thanks.
🎶 On the 1st day of Christmas Boogie Claus gave to me:
His STATS. Cousins is averaging 26 ppg, 12 rpg, 5 apg, 1.6 spg, and 1.7 bpg. Those are dominant numbers and we should all be thankful. Santa’s been good to us this year.
🎶 On the 2nd day of Christmas Saint Demarcus gave to me:
The Snake vs. The Cuz. Leave it to Santa to give everyone the gift of seeing Kevin Durant pretend to be a fighter. Everyone loves to see NBA players pretend to want to fight, and it is especially fun when it’s the current snake of the NBA in KD. (That rule does not apply to Ron Artest/Metta World Peace. He will knock someone out.)
🎶 On the 3rd day of Christmas Santa Cuz gave to me:
#BEASTMODE on the Nuggets. There is all of this talk about Anthony Davis, Karl Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic being the new best centers in the league. Leave it to Boog to remind us all who the real number one big man is. 40 points, 22 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in a dominant win. Sit down young fellas, this is Santa’s world and we all live in it.
🎶 On the 4th day of Christmas Boogie Claus gave to me:
Mean Anthony Davis. Cousins is rubbing off on Davis a bit. Davis was ejected for the first time in his career in November. Half a season and a month of playing together and Davis is arguing and getting ejected. Tis the season indeed.
🎶 On the 5th day of Christmas Saint Demarcus gave to me:
Bullies get bullied. Zach Randolph versus Demarcus Cousins. Prime time television. Randolph didn’t take too kindly to Cousins chasing after Durant in the hallways of the Smoothie King Center.
🎶 On the 6th day of Christmas Santa Cuz gave to me:
Demarcus Cousins telling us about Titanic. Watch it. You’re welcome. That’s my personal gift to you.
🎶 On the 7th day of Christmas Boogie Claus gave to me:
Prime time Rondo. Rondo had a night of 18 assists and followed it up with a triple double. Rondo might be full of empty stats, but you got to admit it is fun watching him play with Cousins.
🎶 On the 8th day of Christmas Saint Demarcus gave to me:
Ron Artest 2.0. Earlier this season, Cousins gave everyone Metta flashbacks with an elbow in the face of Russell Westbrook. I’m not here to condone violence, but man do I miss the days of a big center ripping the ball off the rim and pushing any guards out of the way.
🎶 On the 9th day of Christmas Santa Cuz gave to me:
Point Boogie. The Pelicans are a little “thin” on point guards, and they are running the big man version of the LeBron/Love pick-and-roll with Cousins and Davis. And it is working incredibly. They still are struggling to win games, but if they get into the playoffs, they have a move that no one else can guard.
🎶 On the 10th day of Christmas Boogie Claus gave to me:
The best reaction ever. This happened in 2017 so it counts. Way back during the All-Star weekend, when Cousins sat down for the post game interview. Before they could get started, someone came up and informed the press that they could only ask questions about the All-Star game. When Cousins asked what else they would ask about, the man whispered in his ear. Then Cousins went on to talk about how much he loved New Orleans (the city he was then traded to).
🎶 On the 11th day of Christmas Saint Demarcus gave to me:
The center revolution. I’ll say it. Cousins started the transformation of the modern NBA center. He started shooting threes in Sacramento, way before Joel Embiid, Marc Gasol, Karl Anthony-Towns, or Valanciunas ever started shooting. Cousins is Shaq with a three point shot right now. @LikeMikeNBA on Twitter to fight about it.
🎶 On the 12th day of Christmas Santa Cuz gave to me:
The memories of Sacramento. As much as things went bad in Sacramento, we will always have the memories. The George Karl days. The sweet, sweet, sweet Mike Malone days (even though they were short). The Isaiah Thomas days, the Whiteside days, all of the days. Thank you Boogie Claus. You’re the gift that keeps on giving.
