A police officer pulls you over and asks you to clearly state the alphabet from B-N on potential DUI suspicion, what do you do?
Instead of complying, Detroit Pistons shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope started to sing the alphabet and went way further than the letter N.
It was Wednesday, at 2:52 AM, when Caldwell-Pope, 24, was stopped after being pulled over in his Jeep Wrangler for going over 45 MPH in a 25 zone. According to the report of the Auburn police officer, “When Mr. Pope rolled his window down, a strong odor of intoxicants emitted from the interior of his vehicle. … His eyes were very glossy and his breath smelled of intoxicants.”
A few minutes later, he was put behind a police car and taken to the station for DUI suspicions. Caldwell-Pope said he consumed two drinks of Hennessy, a cognac, with water, the last at 2 a.m. From details of the report, he seemed to be either be way too lit to have drank just that or has the tolerance of a high school senior.
He did blow a 0.08 on the breathalyzer, hitting the legal limit exactly. The investigation will continue as this action is still against the NBA substance abuse policy.
