The Celtics are trying to win a championship. ASAP. Everybody knows what has to be done. Build a mega team. Boston has the money and assets to get any player they want, but who?

After having the best regular season record in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics are not done improving their roster. Obviously, with the King in the East, improvements are necessary. Every team in the NBA is trying to improve their roster by loading their team with stars. Boston may be the latest to follow the trend.

The Celtics have the money and future draft picks, along with a handful of young players to get anybody in the league. After getting demolished by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals, adding two stars will definitely make it competitive.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics is aggressively pursuing Gordon’s Hayward and Paul George.

Per Yahoo Sports:

The Boston Celtics are pursuing an aggressive summer plan of sequencing the signing of free agent Gordon Hayward and relinquishing the assets needed to complete a trade for Paul George, league sources told The Vertical.

Boston is linking with several free agents, but two free agents stand in Boston’s rear view mirror. One is the Utah Jazz star Gordon Hayward, who is an under-appreciated small forward that can put up 20+ ppg. on any team.

Boston Head Coach Brad Stevens has been connected with Hayward since his high school days. However, Hayward is interested in returning back to the Jazz and signing with the Miami heat.

The other is Paul George, who everybody knows is a rental for one year, but can probably lure him in IF they prove to be successful. However, in order to trade for George, they need to know if Hayward is committed to the team (cap space reasons).

Per Yahoo Sports:

For salary-cap purposes, Boston wants a Hayward commitment before it can finalize a trade for George and secure the most dynamic free-agent coup in franchise history, league sources said.

If they cannot sign Hayward and he chooses the Heat or return to the Jazz, the Celtics have Plan B, which is signing Blake Griffin.

Per Yahoo Sports

If Boston can’t acquire Hayward, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin could be a substitute in this free-agency plan to sign a star and then trade for George, league sources told The Vertical.

If both deals end up going through, the Cavaliers and Warriors might have something crawling up their backs.

The Celtics are done rebuilding. They are looking for stars. They are looking to bring championships back to the Garden.
