Lebron James Saves the Cavs’ Season:
Lebron James has once again proven that he is the best player in the world. He went for 45 points on 64.0 percent shooting from the field in Game 7 against the Indiana Pacers. James was nearly unstoppable for most of the game, hitting his first eight shots and pulling down nine rebounds in 43 minutes of play. James also added seven assists for good measure. The Cleveland Cavaliers won 105-101, and are going to the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the fourth straight season. Cleveland has reached the Eastern Conference Finals in each of the last three campaigns and are looking for a fourth trip, but will have to go through the top seed in the East, the Toronto Raptors.
Not only was King James magical in the closeout game, but so was Tristan Thompson. The big man didn’t play a lot to start the series because of an ongoing injury, but he was inserted into the starting lineup for Game 7 and was hugely impactful. Thompson played 35 minutes and dropped 15 points, 10 rebounds, and a block. George Hill, another Cleveland player that has been injured lately, returned too. He came on in the second half and was able to score 11 points in only 19 minutes. Hill connected on 9-11 free throws. Kevin Love was able to help the Cavaliers advance too, scoring 14 points. Cleveland was +7 with Love on the floor, the second highest on the team.
The Pacers overachieved all year long. A lot of people didn’t even think they would make it to the postseason, but taking the Cavaliers to seven games was impressive. Indiana has a really young team, a ton of cap space, and should be able to build off of a good year. Victor Oladipo, a first time All-Star ended the season with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in Game 7. The Cavaliers have to head to Toronto for Game 1 of the Second Round against the Raptors. They’ve eliminated the Raptors the last two seasons, taking them out in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last year. But Toronto is a different team this year, and the Cavaliers are vulnerable. It should be a good one.
