NBA All-Star Weekend is always filled with apparel companies fighting for brand recognition. For Banana Republic, all they needed is (Kevin) Love.

While Nike and Adidas leads the way in the latest athletic fashion, another apparel brand cashed in on NBA All-Star Weekend.

Banana Republic will release a Fall 2018 design collaboration, BR/K.LOVE-18 as part of a three-year partnership with Cavaliers star Kevin Love. The capsule collection, designed in collaboration with Love, is set to launch on Sept. 18, 2018.

“We’ve continued to evolve here with Banana Republic, [with] this being my third year with them” Love said in an exclusive with Spark Sports. “We started out with a photoshoot and some stuff that lived on the viral campaign. Now it’s a bunch of viral stuff being in the store and seeing the capsule collection that’s going to come out in fall 2018.”

The BR/K.LOVE-18 collection is inspired by Banana Republic’s “utility heritage with a twist of Love’s favorite tailored performance pieces, highlighting his personal style grounded in American sportswear.” The collaboration features a limited-edition capsule of clothing and accessories for men.

Love, 29, became Banana Republic’s first-ever men’s global style ambassador in spring 2016 and has worked with the brand since. In his latest work, he has starred in the brand’s spring 2018 advertising campaign that debuted on Feb. 13 which showcases versatile menswear.

With the spotlight on fashion all over Los Angeles for NBA All-Star Weekend, Banana Republic took the opportunity to publicize the BR/K.LOVE-18 collaboration with a meet-and-greet and autograph session with Love on Thursday, Feb. 15 at The Grove.

Love was named an NBA All-Star for the fifth time in his career, set to play for Team LeBron. However, due to a hand injury, he will not be able to participate in the game.

Love will continue starring as the retail brand’s seasonal men’s advertising campaign for the Spring 2018 collection releasing during NBA All-Star Weekend before his personal fall capsule collection launches in the Sept. 2018.
