Today Slam Magazine tweeted out this regarding Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon:

The Orlando Magic are beginning to go into their second straight rebuild, a rebuild 2.0 if you will. They have been rebuilding since Dwight Howard left. Nobody is safe from being traded in Orlando. It was reported that they have been shopping Elfrid Payton, Evan Fournier and Mario Hezonja, but no player for the Magic is safe.

Aaron Gordon wants to leave the Magic, but the Magic would be stupid to let him leave in free-agency. Aaron Gordon is a restricted free agent this summer. The situation is that the Magic have respect for his wishes, and obviously he wants to be somewhere other than Orlando. The Magic have to do what is best for the organization and letting a future star like Gordon just walk in free-agency would be stupid. Many teams will have interest in Gordon. It would be best for the Magic to trade a package of young talent for a star. Here are some options.

Aaron Gordon is more than just a good dunker…

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I post a lot of NBA predictions. In the beginning of the season I said that if the Most Improved Player isn’t Victor Oladipo, it will be Aaron Gordon. Aaron Gordon has averaged 18.4 points and 8 rebounds a game this season. Many young teams will look to acquire the young star, I can guarantee that.

One team that makes sense is the Portland Trail Blazers. I sense a blockbuster deal between the Blazers and the Magic in the future. Both teams have tried to build a contending team and it hasn’t worked for either. The Blazers have a star backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Two guards that are only capable of scoring and are the only real talent on their team is never going to work out. Here is a possible trade that would shake up the NBA.

Orlando Receives: CJ McCollum, Al Farouq-Aminu, 2018 First Round Pick, 2020 Second Round Pick
Portland Receives: Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, Nikola Vucevic

This deal works out for both teams. The Trail Blazers definitely get better, just look at what their starting lineup would look like:

PG: Damian Lillard

SG: Evan Fournier

SF: Aaron Gordon

PF: Nikola Vucevic

C: Jusuf Nurkic

Hey, that’s a pretty good starting lineup if you ask me. The thing that the Blazers are lacking right now is depth. They need to gain a good starting lineup and a good bench. This trade does that.

Another team that will make a push for AG is the New York Knicks. The Knicks are in need of their small-forward of the future, and Aaron Gordon would be the perfect fit. The Knicks just don’t have many pieces to trade. The Magic would want Frank Ntilikina and I doubt the Knicks would trade Frank. I can see Gordon signing with the Knicks in the offseason though. He is a restricted free-agent.

Some more teams to look out for are the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls and the Denver Nuggets. They are in need for a small-forward, and have the most pieces.
