The Knicks are trying to find a point guard to help in any way possible.

Since Phil Jackson left, there have been a lot more chatter about free agency pieces. There has been a sense of guarantee that free agents will want to sign with the New York Knicks because of Jackson’s departure.

At this moment now, New York does not want Derrick Rose back. Now, they are trying to move their starting shooting guard.

According to Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype, Knicks are trying to move Courtney Lee, so that they can sign a significant point guard in free agency.

Courtney Lee, 31, averaged 10.8 point and 40.1 percent from the three point line. Lee is the modern guard that everybody wants right now. He’s a three&D type guy. Lee would be a immediate help for a team like the Rockets, Clippers, T’Wolves, Thunder, Cavaliers or Jazz.

The Knicks are trying to dump his contract after they signed him to a 4 year $48 million deal last offseason. According to Spot Trac, In 2017-18, Lee will earn a base salary of $11,747,890, while carrying a cap hit of $11,747,890 and a dead cap value of $36,761,340.

Letting go of Lee would allow the Knicks to get the point guard they dreamed of getting.

There were reports saying that the Knicks are interested in Jeff Teague, but Marc Stein newest report contradicted the old reports.

After drafting rookie point guard from France, Frank Ntilinkina would need some time to learn on the NBA level.
