(11) USC trailed for much of the game, including a 38-30 deficit at halftime, but the Trojans came storming back in the final few minutes, taking their first lead of the game with just under 2 minutes remaining.

Following a deep triple from (6) SMU’s Shake Milton, Elijah Stewart drilled a corner three-pointer to put USC up for good. The Mustangs had two chances towards the end of the game to grab the win, but could not get their best player, Duke-transfer Semi Ojeleye, the ball.

USC led for only 1:16 of the game, but because of their 13 double-digit comeback victories on the season, they have learned to never give up. Bennie Boatwright was also huge for the Trojans, scoring 14 points and snatching down 6 rebounds.

The Trojans are now 26-9 on the season and advance to the Round of 32, where they will meet the (3) Baylor Bears. This win for USC means a First Four team has reached at least the Second Round in each of the last 7 years.
