It was very clear at the beginning of this game how much of an impact Greg Hardy and Rolando McClain have on this Defense. In the first half, the Defense had five sacks: two by Greg Hardy and one by Rolando McClain, Jack Crawford, and Tyrone Crawford. Hardy and McClain were making plays and confusing the offensive line in the first half, but in the second half, things were different. The Cowboys defense did not get any sacks in the second half, which was probably due to adjustments by Bill Belichick. It seems like in the past three games the Cowboys have been outmatched in the second half, which I think is the fault of the coaching staff and players.
The moment that Cowboys fans have been waiting for has finally arrived and it was worth the wait. With Rolando McClain, Greg Hardy, and Sean Lee on the field together the defense looked very different from the previous weeks. Greg Hardy was the player of the game on Defense, getting after Tom Brady all day. Along with two sacks, Hardy had five QB hits and one tackle for a loss.
One of the biggest problems for the Defense this game was the Offense. The Offense could not get into any rhythm causing too many three and outs forcing the Defense to be on the field longer than necessary. The other problem is the obvious, Tom Brady, who picked this defense apart. The game was getting further and further out of reach as Tom Brady threw for two TDs and ran for one.
The offense woes continued for the Cowboys and it does not seem like it will be getting any better with Tony Romo out for six more weeks. The offense did not score any touchdowns and the only points came on two field goals by Dan Bailey. This offense has reached an all time low, Darren McFadden lead the team in receptions and pass yards. Even more disappointing, Brandon Weeden still did not thrown a deep ball with the longest reception being 21 yards. At this point, I want to see what Matt Cassel can do; it will not hurt.
- Bye Week Next Week
- DE Randy Gregory returning after bye week
- WR Dez Bryant should be returning shortly after bye week
- Defense Improving
- Cowboys will be a lot better at full strength
