The Dallas Cowboys took the field in front of 93,579 fans to start their journey in 2015. The enemy was a familiar ,but dangerous opponent. The New York football Giants came into Jerry World looking to start their season off on a good note.
The Cowboys dominated on the stat sheets in all categorizes except one. Turnovers. Turnovers killed the boys in the season opener. Dallas was looking to enter the half with a three point lead ,but after two turnovers the lead became a seven point deficit. With all the damage that had been done it seemed unlikely the Cowboys could make a comeback.
Tony Romo yes Tony Romo dug the Cowboys out of the mess they were in. Romo went 36-45 for 356 yards and three scores.
The Giants only managed 289 yards of offense and only had the ball for a total of 22:46 ,but the turnovers forced really kept them in the game. The defense also played well for big blue aside from the last two Cowboy drives.
The Giants were in the drivers seat for all of the second half and put the pressure on the Dallas defense to make a stop. After giving up a first down via a personal foul by Jeremy Mincey and allowing Eli Manning to connect with OBJ on 3rd and 14 the Dallas Cowboys needed a stop. They stuffed the Giants the first two plays making it 3rd and goal with a little over a minuet left and no timeouts. Controversialy, the Giants decided to pass the ball on third down instead of running it which would have kept the clock moving. The Giants Ultimately settled for a field goal making it a 26-20 game with about a minuet thirty on the clock.
Romo took the field looking to lead the Cowboys to victory. With Dez Bryant hurt Romo had to get crafty. Tony threw passes for 20,24,16,13 ,and 8 before throwing a strike to Jason Witten who scored a touchdown making it a 26-26 game. Tony did this in 1:27 seconds. Dan Bailey then kicked the extra point making it 27-26 in favor of Dallas.
Dallas won the game and is now 1-0 on the year. With Dez Bryant out 4-6 weeks the Cowboys task becomes that much harder. The Cowboys take the eagles next weekend on Fox.
