The New York Giants got off to a hot start against division rival Philadelphia on Monday Night Football, scoring on a touchdown pass and catch from Eli Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. on their first drive.

They were not in control for long.  Final score: Philadelphia Eagles 27, Giants 7. Both teams come out of this one at 3-3 for the season.

Aided by an onslaught of turnovers and mistakes by the Giants, the Eagles ran the score to 17-7 by halftime.  14 of those Eagles points came off of turnovers. New York had 3 turnovers in the game, all in the first half.

In a game that simply wasn’t well played, Philadelphia had their share of turnovers and penalties as well, with 4 turnovers and 9 penalties.

This contest could have been closer, mistakes being nearly even, but the Eagles defensive line was in the Giants’ backfield all night.  New York’s offense was inept. The team also finished with 12 penalties.

The Eagles had 425 total yards to the Giants’ 247.  Manning’s final numbers were 24-38 passing with 189 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  Sam Bradford of the Eagles had 280 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 picks also on 24-38 passing.

There was indeed a DeMarco Murray sighting.  He finished with 109 yards and 1 touchdown on 22 carries, warming up as the game went on and the Giants defense was becoming worn out.

Beckham Jr. fizzled with the rest of the Giants offense, but finished with 7 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
