Landry Jones, the young quarterback out of Oklahoma, is getting first team reps for the Pittsburgh Steelers leading up to the team’s game at Kansas City on Sunday.

Jones subbed for an injured Michael Vick in Pittsburgh’s last game, a win over the Cardinals, and looked good. The former Sooner had 168 yards passing with 2 touchdowns in just under 2 quarters of play.

“It’s safe to prepare as if Landry Jones is our quarterback this week” Coach Mike Tomlin said “He’s healthy.”

If Jones is to play, then he will need as many reps as possible, so this is a great chance to accomplish that and also to let Vick’s hamstring rest up.

Vick may still play in this game.  The veteran could rest all week and conceivably be ready by Sunday.

Star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is not expected back this week, but it sounds like he may try his injured knee out a bit in practice and see how it feels.

Coach Tomlin says that he will “play it by ear”. With all of this QB movement, I can see why.
