Andrew Luck led a furious rally to get his Colts to overtime against Carolina but ultimately fell short, and the Panthers won on Monday Night Football even after giving up 17 consecutive points in the 4th quarter.

Panthers kicker Graham Gano hit 2 field goals in overtime, including a 52 yard kick with 5:29 remaining to put the final score at 29-26.  The win preserves Carolina’s perfect record, now at 7-0.

Carolina dominated the first three quarters and was up 23-6 in the 4th, aided by 2 early Andrew Luck interceptions. Luck had just 40 yards passing through 3.

Afterwards, the Colts scored 17 consecutive points to tie the game.  Luck was 17-31 for 185 yards with two touchdowns during the comeback.

Adam Vinatieri hit a field goal on the Colts’ first chance in the extra period, only to watch Gano match the score for Carolina and tie the game on the ensuing drive.

Then Luck un-did everything he had done, throwing his 3rd INT to give the Panthers great field position and set up Gano’s game winner.

Cam Newton had 248 yards passing and 41 yards rushing to lead the victorious Panthers. Jonathan Stewart had 82 tough yards on 24 carries.

Andre Johnson and Coby Fleener had a TD catch apiece for the Colts, and Frank Gore paced the rushing attack with 70 yards.

Each team will play this Sunday on a short week.  Carolina welcomes Green Bay to town for a big NFC match-up. The Colts have another difficult test coming up, this time against Denver at home.
