After a year of Fantasy Football full of firepower from the quarterback position, expect the 2017 season to be full of even more surprises with a great group of quarterbacks performing at levels way above their expectations. The amount of potential at the quarterback position this upcoming season compared to last season has sky-rocketed after an offseason full of astonishing moves, and an NFL Draft full of talented players being drafted to teams where they perfectly fit in.

Here are my top 3 QB steals heading into the 2017 Fantasy Football Season that everyone should keep an eye on while drafting.

3. Philip Rivers– With a solid season in 2016, finishing 14th among quarterbacks in fantasy scoring, Philip Rivers will look to explode this season, with his new and improved offensive squad. Rivers had to play the entire 2016 season without his go-to-guy Keenan Allen, who blew out his ACL during Week 1 against the Chiefs. It seemed as if Rivers had nobody to throw the ball too, as his number one target became Tyrell Williams.

Although Rivers was lacking explosive WRs in 2016, he now has one of the best WR duos in the league, consisting of Keenan Allen and first-round draft pick Mike Williams, two exciting and powerful WRs who can do it all. In addition, the Chargers have one of the best RBs in the league in Melvin Gordon, who will certainly help Rivers move the ball down the field, giving Rivers a ton of chances to score in the RedZone. Expect Rivers to have an easy year putting up huge numbers with a massive upgrade of receiving targets from last year.

2. Jameis Winston– Back in 2016, Winston had a solid receiving corps with star WR Mike Evans at the top of the charts. Winston and Evans had a strong and unique connection unlike any other QB-WR connection in the league. Now, after drafting TE O.J. Howard in the first round and signing free-agent DeSean Jackson to add to the receiving group, Jameis Winston can not get any happier.

Last season, defenses only had to focus on stopping Mike Evans, but they now have a couple of more guys that they need to worry about. This will free up Mike Evans from double coverage, allowing Winston and Evans to get even hotter this season. Moreover, Winston now has 3 RedZone weapons in Mike Evans, O.J. Howard, and Vincent Jackson. It seems as if Winston will throw a TD almost every time that the Bucs reach the RedZone.

1. Andy Dalton– Let’s start off with an interesting stat: Andy Dalton finished 12th among quarterbacks in fantasy scoring last season, despite all of the issues that occurred with the Bengals’ offense that never seemed to come to an end. To start it off, the Bengals lost WRs Marvin Jones and Mohammed Sanu in the 2016 offseason due to free agency.

Next, TD machine Tyler Eifert underwent ankle surgery in May, causing him to miss the first 4 weeks of the season. In addition, Eifert suffered a back injury on Oct. 5, causing him to miss weeks 5 and 6. Can things get worse for QB Andy Dalton? Yes! Dalton lost his top WR A.J. Green, one of the best WRs in the league, due to a hamstring injury in week 10, causing him to miss the rest of the season. Let me repeat. Andy Dalton still finished 12th among quarterbacks in fantasy scoring last season!

Now, heading into the 2017 season, Dalton’s weapons is by far the best he’s ever had. With A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert back at 100% from injuries, and with the addition of speedy first-round WR John Ross and dynamic second-round RB Joe Mixon, don’t be surprised if Dalton finishes inside the top 5 fantasy scoring QBs this upcoming season.
