With three overtime games this past week, fantasy match-ups were sure to be high scoring. Let’s take a look at last week’s picks.
Winners:
Christine Michael: 10 carries, 40 yards, one touchdown, 10 points
Randall Cobb: Zeroes across the board
Vernon Davis: Five catches, 93 receiving yards, nine fantasy points
Waivers:
Chris Ivory: Four carries, six yards, zero fantasy points
Michael Floyd: Zeroes across the board
Antonio Gates: Four catches, 33 receiving yards, one touchdown, nine fantasy points
Where I Was Wrong: Cobb was a late scratch, and with hindsight, he would not have been picked. Antonio Gates caught his third touchdown of the year, giving his few remaining owners just enough hope to keep him for a little while longer.
Where I Was Right: Michael Floyd stunk it up while John Brown was out this week. Christine Michael and Vernon Davis had solid weeks, and Davis may have shown he can share the field alongside fantasy stud Jordan Reed.
This week features a previous Winner finally becoming Waiver. On to this week’s picks:
Winner: Theo Riddick, RB Detroit Lions
Last Week: 11 carries, 56 rushing yards, 18 fantasy points
Percentages: 84% ownership, 47% starting
Why He’s A Winner: Riddick returned last week to ridiculous numbers, posting 18 fantasy points. Riddick is best used in a PPR league, as he also logged eight catches, 77 yards, and a touchdown against Houston last week. The Vikings defense has missed a few beats the last couple weeks, so I like this matchup.
Waiver: Rashad Jennings, RB New York Giants
Last Week: Week 8 bye, Week 7: 13 carries, 25 rushing yards, one touchdown, 10 fantasy points
Percentages: 73% ownership, 22% starting
Why You Waive Him: The Giants backfield is pretty rough, and Jennings is at the top of it, so do with that information what you will. With last week being his first touchdown of the year, don’t expect much from Jennings going forward.
Winner: Michael Crabtree, WR Oakland Raiders
Last Week: Eight receptions, 108 receiving yards, 10 fantasy points
Percentages: 95% ownership, 78% starting
Why He’s A Winner: Oakland is becoming a fantasy monster with Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, Latavius Murray, and, quietly, Michael Crabtree. With double-digit fantasy points in all of his games but two, Crabtree is still a solid WR2 this week, even against a stifling Denver defense.
Waiver: Anquan Boldin, WR Detriot Lions
Last Week: One reception, four receiving yards, zero fantasy points
Percentages: 32% ownership, 15% starting
Why You Waive Him: Boldin has been streaky at best this season, while reeling in four touchdowns, but having only two double-digit fantasy games. He’s a weak flex at best at this point, so keep him if your bench is thin, but that’s really the only reason.
Winner: Josh Lambo, K San Diego Chargers
Last Week: 0/1 field goals, one extra point, zero fantasy points
Percentages: 53% ownership, 41% starting
Why He’s A Winner: Denver held San Diego to minimal scoring, which was expected, so Lambo was due for a down game heading in. However, San Diego has games against Tennessee and Miami respectively, so expect a return to form for Lambo, who was averaging 11 fantasy points a game until last week.
Waiver: Bengals Defense
Last Week: 27 points allowed, one interception, -3 fantasy points
Percentages: 63% ownership, 40% starting
Why You Waive Them: The Bengals have been giving up at least 23 points per game while simultaneously not scoring enough or logging enough turnovers to make up the point difference. While their schedule after this bye week is not too challenging, neither was their pre-bye schedule. Approach with caution.
