Messi to blame?
Lionel Messi has been taking the blame for the recent losses of Argentina. With all his recent success in his club Barcelona, the fans are blaming him for not performing as well during the international games. It seems people are blaming one of the best players in the world for his performance and he might have had enough.
The Argentinian International coach, Gerardo Martino, spoke for Messi’s defense during an interview with FOX on their show “90 Minutos De Futbol” (currently number 12) saying, “If I were in Messi’s place I would have stopped playing with the national team a long time ago, but I would keep playing for Barcelona.”
Messi has won almost every cup there is to win with his team Barcelona, but cannot win one for Argentina. There are two sides to every story, for example fans complain that he is not scoring as many goals as he does for his club and that he is losing his passion to play on the International level. On the other hand on Barcelona he has World-renowned players such as Andres Iniesta and Neymar who give him the support on and off the ball to create opportunities for the striker, unlike Argentina. Although he could not win the World Cup and Copa America, one might say it was because of the lack of support from his teammates.
Messi has made incredible accomplishments during his football career, which still has years to go such as being the FC Barcelona all time scorer, winning 5 La Ligas, Two Copa Del Rays, and receving the Baloon d’Or, which is the greatest accomplishment a footballer can have. There are many more achievements in his Trophy case but fans complain that he does not give the effort that he does in the club onto the international team.
At the age of 28, Messi still has a few opportunities to perform at a high level of soccer at an international and club level. He is a player who amazes his viewers every time they watch. His precision dribbling and stunning speed along with his incredible soccer IQ makes him one of the best players in the world and no one would be surprised if he played until his late 30’s.
