My name is Narek Manoukian and my love for soccer will be shared with you guys from here on forward. Happy to be on board the Spark Sports team as its own soccer analyst and writer.
For many people across the world soccer is not just a sport but also a way of life. Something to run away to when things get bad and fill our thoughts with dreams of being the players we idolize on TV. Some people dedicate their entire lives to become a professional and to represent their country on an international stage or play alongside their heroes in their favorite clubs.
Soccer is a sport that brings excitement and passion. I might not be as devoted to the sport as others but I would be lying if I said I did not get a feeling of nostalgia when walking by a park, smelling the freshly cut grass or feeling my heart pounding when I just imagined myself scoring the winning goal for my team.
Soccer has never been just a sport for me but rather a way for me to meet new people that could end up being my close friends for years to come or something to distract me from the tons of homework I had waiting at home after my practices and games. Even though I knew I would be spending all night doing my work and wake up the next morning feeling terrible because I barely got any sleep, it would be worth it just for those couple of hours out on the field.
Soccer is something that connects me with a majority of my current friends and it comes up in our conversations at least once a day. Whether it’s about someone who transferred to another team or a goal scored that left us replaying it over and over again in amazement. Growing up with soccer all around me has made a great impact on my life.
Everyone who has grown up playing soccer remembers the moments where you may have forgot your boots at home, accidentally brought one shin guard, or when your mom forgot to wash your jersey. It’s the moments of people cheering your name and applauding you that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
Thinking about the goals you scored, the assist you gave, the block that saved the game, or of course the skill show you put on for the cute girl in the corner and re playing those moments in your head all night until you sleep with a smile on your face. Those are the moments that people live for but than again one mans passion could just be a moron kicking leather in the dirt to someone else.
I will be covering all news in soccer and hopefully one day spark your interest in soccer and sports 🙂
What does soccer mean to you?
