The UEFA Champions League semifinals are set to kickoff tomorrow with both match-ups bringing a lot to the table. Real Madrid (Spain) will face Atletico Madrid (Spain) in a rematch from last years final, while AS Monaco (France) will take on Serie A powerhouse Juventus (Italy).
Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid
This will likely be a heated and intense match-up between the two teams, both providing enough star power to light the stadium. We all know Real Madrid is led by Cristiano Ronaldo and midfielder Luka Modric. They will look to defeat Atletico once again and move to finals. Being a perennial Champions League contender, they will use their balanced attack and deadly counter-attack to put Atletico on the ropes.
Atletico Madrid is lead by France’s Antione Griezmann, who’s at the top of many club’s shopping list this upcoming summer. Atletico is a team that can score without giving up many goals on the defensive side. The defense is led by centerback Diego Godin and keeper Jan Oblak.
Prediction: Real Madrid advances 5-2 on aggregate.
AS Monaco vs. Juventus
Both of these teams can score and also in bunches. AS Monaco is fast playing a team that will use their speed and athleticism to keep pressure on the Juventus defense. Players to watch for Monaco are Kylian Mbappe and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Both are young players who will most likely be on the move this summer or will at least draw plenty of interest in Europe.
Juventus will use the two-headed scoring machine of Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, who have combined to score seven goals in the knockout stages of the tournament. Juventus also has a defense that is experienced and is led by legend goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, who has played 351 games in his career at the Italian Club.
Prediction: This one is a little bit trickier to pick because of the possible scoring from each team. Going with the experience here, Juventus 7-5 on aggregate.
